It's never easy to resist the January Sales, but when you're Mr Bean, you own a Mini, and you buy too much, improvising is always the key. While the interior may be stuffed with bargain purchases, the only solution available to Mr Bean is to modify the car to drive it home seated in a new armchair carefully installed on top of the roof. A complex system of ropes, pulleys, broom handles and bricks all work brilliantly, until the unfortunate appearance of a hill on the journey home....

One of the eight pre-production New Bus for London prototypes which were trialed in February 2012, Arriva LT2 was the first New Routemaster that took on paying customers, and it’s first journey took on London’s busiest route, route 38. In it’s standard red livery it carried the registration LT61 BHT, this was changed in 2013, when Transport for London decided to re-register all it’s prototypes to the same registration we see today with the LTZ Letters. Now known as LTZ 1002, in 2014 it was painted its green base colour and trailed to Arriva West Yorkshire, it was there for 2 years and was then brought back to London where it was adapted to the commemorative livery of London Country Bus Services, echoing the original RM2 Protoype Routemaster that carried the same colour scheme back in its trials of the London country area in 1955.

Formed on January 1, 1859, the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC) was an amalgamation of the many independent horse-drawn omnibus services that were then operating in London and, by nationalisation in 1933, was the largest operator in London. The deregulation of London bus services during the 1980s led, in 1989, to London Transport creating a series of bus operating companies with names of geographic or historic significance to the capital, including London General Transport Services Limited. The new London General was initially privatised by management buy-out, but was subsequently acquired by the Go-Ahead Group in May 1996, becoming the largest bus company operating in London. The London General Heritage livery harks back to the Edwardian heyday of the LGOC and is represented here on LTZ 1050 operating on route 88, the former 'Clapham Omnibus' route running from Camden Town to Clapham Common via central London to which New Routemasters were introduced on August 22, 2015.

Derived from the former London United Tramways, operator of trams and trolleybuses in west and south west London, London United commenced operating on 1 April 1989 as one of the twelve operating subsidiaries of London Buses, prior to privatisation. In 2009 Transdev were in negotiations to merge with Veolia Transport and as part of the resulting agreement it was agreed that the RATP Group, a minority shareholder in Transdev, would take over some of Transdev's operations, resulting in London United transferring to the RATP Group. Route 10 commenced operations on August 13, 1988, just prior to the formation of London United, replacing the old Route 73 and operating between Kings Cross and Hammersmith. Between February 2003 and January 2010, Route 10 was operated by First London but then reverted to Transdev/London United operation until November 23, 2018 when, as part of a programme reducing the number of bus routes traversing Oxford Street, route 10 ceased running. LTZ 1148 carries Fleet No. LT148 in the RATP Group's London United bus company fleet, joining from first registration on February 1, 2014 and operating from Stamford Brook Garage once the Wrightbus new Routemasters were introduced to the route on April 26, 2014. LTZ 1148 operated over Route 10 until the TfL rerouting to serve Russell Square station on June 25, 2016, at which time the vehicle was switched to Route 9.

Wright’s New Routemasters were officially introduced to Route N8 on 28th June 2014, although LTZ 1406 did not enter service with Stagecoach London until 13th March 2015; its first appearance on the night route coming on 15th March, with the 01:30 service. The N8 commenced operations on 13th August 1988, at that time running between Bow Church and Queensbury Station, with Leyland Titans operating out of Bow Garage and over the following years a number of stops were added and withdrawn. Hainault was added to the route from 26th June 2004 and London Victoria removed on 27th June 2009, creating the current sixteen mile route running between Hainault, The Lowe to Oxford Circus, Holles Street, scheduled to take 69-94 minutes

LT61 BHT was one of eight pre-production New Bus for London prototypes which took to the road in February 2012, and the very first New Routemaster that took on paying customers. In August 2014, LT2 was loaned out for a six month consultation period with First West Yorkshire and branded in the colourful ‘New Bus for West Yorkshire’ livery, highlighting it’s friendly eco credentials of hybrid diesel- electric power. The bus was used at industry and bus enthusiasts events but failed to enter public service with paying customers, It‘s 509 Halifax destination board just used for promotional displays. In March 2015 it was sent back to Arriva London, it was kept in it’s same green base colour but liveried to represent the heritage livery of London Country Buses.
